If you bill by the hour, sooner or later you have to turn a clock time like "1:30" or "45 minutes" into a decimal number like "1.5" so you can multiply it by your rate. Step 1 — Enter the time

1. In the field labelled "Minutes (or h:mm, e.g. 7:45)", type either a plain number of minutes (e.g. "90") or a clock-style time like "7:45".
2. The "Decimal hours" field updates automatically with the converted result (e.g. "1.5 decimal hours"). This field is also editable — you can type a decimal value in directly and it converts the other way.

Step 2 — Bill it (optional)

1. Enter your Hourly rate.
2. Set Currency to € Euro (EUR), $ US Dollar (USD), or £ British Pound (GBP).
3. The "Amount" field shows the calculated bill (e.g. "$0.00" updating live as you fill in the rate).

Step 3 — Use or download the reference chart

Step 1 — Enter the decimal value

1. In "Decimal hours" (the page describes it as: "Type the decimal value straight off a timesheet or payroll export"), type the decimal number you have.
2. The "Minutes" field updates automatically (the page notes: "Edit either field and the other updates live" — you can also type minutes in directly).
3. A Clock time output also appears in h:mm format (for example, "0:45").

This is the tool to use when you have several time entries to total up for billing (a timesheet with multiple rows), not just a single conversion.

Step 1 — Add your time entries

The page gives you multiple rows, each with:

1. Entry label (optional) — a name for that block of time (e.g. "Client call", "Design work").
2. Time — accepts three formats: "7:45", "1h 30m", or "1.5". Use whichever format matches what you're copying from.

Add as many rows as you have entries.

Step 2 — Bill the total

1. Enter your Hourly rate.
2. Set Currency to € Euro (EUR), $ US Dollar (USD), or £ British Pound (GBP).
3. Three totals appear:
   • Total decimal hours — shown as "0.00 h"
   • Total clock time — shown as "0:00"
   • Billable amount — the total at your rate (e.g. "$0.00")

Step 3 — Use the reference charts

Step 4 — Do it yourself in Excel or Google Sheets (optional)

If you'd rather convert in a spreadsheet instead of on the page, the tool includes a formula section:

• To convert a single clock-time cell to decimal: "multiply it by 24 and change the result cell's format to Number: =A2*24"
• To total a column of clock times and get one decimal number: "=SUM(A2:A10), then multiply that single total by 24"

How these connect to billing

Each of the three converters has a "Use in invoice" button next to its result.
